雅思口语Part 1新题:

■Can you tell me something about your hometown? Where do you live now? Is your hometown a suitable place for children to live?

I think that I probably found it less difficult to concentrate as a child than today’s young people do. When I was young, there were no distractions like television or computerised games and reading was popular. If there was music on the radio, it seemed to fade into the background.

■Why do you young people seem to take so many photographs on their cellphones??

I think that people take so many pictures because mobile phones mean that you can keep in contact with friends who live far away. If you send pictures as well as talking to them, it makes contacting them more personal。

■Do you prefer travelling by bus or taxi? Why? Which city do you plan to visit in the near future? Why? Why do some people prefer  to travel by train?

■Do you like camping when you travelling ? Do you like to travel alone  or  with a group of people?

■Do you think everyone should learn how to drive? Why? Please talk about the public transport systems in your hometown?

■What kind of gifts do you like to receive? Is it important for friends to give each other gifts?

I live in the North-West of England, which is the area that has the highest rainfall of all the areas in Britain. So we have much wet and windy weather.

■What do you think is the most important things between friends? Which do you prefer, many friends or several friend? What do you usually do when you get together?

■Do you often go to parks? Do you like big outdoor park s with many  facilities provided for your enjoyment? Why?

■What kind of music do you like to listen to? Have you ever learned how to play a musical instrument? What are the benefits from learning to play a musical instrument?

■What is your favourite colour? Why?

■Besides English language, which language do you want to learn? Why? Do you think English language will be the international language? Why?
I think English is already the international language even though the number of people who speak Chinese is larger. If I were to learn a new language, I would like to learn German. I did learn French,Spanish , Latin and Greek at school, but I never learned any German.

■Do you have a pet? If you do not have one what would you like to have as a pet. What benefits are there from having a pet?
I do not have a pet although I work with a sheepdog gathering in the sheep on the farm. I also take a neighbour’s dog for walks because you walk further than if you walked along. I did have a cat which lived  until the age of 23. I wouldn’t have a pet now because it would be difficult with all the time I spend away from home. Pets are good for very old people who need companionship and for children to teach them how to be responsible for an animal’s welfare.

■Do you like to practice your handwriting all the time? Why? Do you think calligraphy can show a person’s personality?
I think that e-mails have destroyed the art of handwriting and the art of letter writing. I am so glad that I learned to write with a real pen and with ink, rather than a ball-point-pen. I also like to think about what I am going to write and “p0lish” the text before making a final copy. I think that if you write a letter in your own handwriting rather than on a word-processor and then post it, it shows you care enough about the recipient to take time to contact them.
