(1) For those who majors in Business (商科身份)

  1. What work do you do?

I recently started as a research assistant at a large international advertising firm (广告公司).It’s an entry level (入门级、初级的) position where I find statistics about the likes and dislikes of different age groups in a specific country that our client is looking to do business in.

  1. Why did you choose to do that type of work?

While this is not the final job that I was hoping for, it is a solid (可靠的) entry-level position in a firm that does the kind of work I am interested in. I enjoy gathering the statistics knowing that they will be used to make important decisions in marketing our client’s product. I feel there is a lot of room for promotion here in this company as well.

  1. Do you miss being a student?

I didn’t think that I would, but I do. As much as I like my job and I am grateful to have it, it is a big change. I am meeting new people and learning new responsibilities; my daily schedule is very different, but I need to expect a period of adjustment.

  1. Is it interesting? / Do you like your job?

It is really interesting and I really enjoy my job. I think the work is interesting and look forward to learning more. I like all of the people I work with. There are two other research assistants who were hired the same time I was and I enjoy working with them.

(2) For those who majors in Social Science (文科身份)

  1. What work do you do?

Now I am working as an assistant in an English educational institute call New Channel. It’s an entry level position where I need to help other teachers prepare for lessons and revise the examination papers. Though these are simple and easy jobs, I still learn a lot from it.

  1. Why did you choose to do that type of work?

I chose to go into education as my profession. The reason why I chose this type of work is that I have a real love of language. Moreover, education is a very stable job and can be quite lucrative (挣钱多的)in the long term, so I think it is a good idea for my future prospects.

3. Is it interesting?

Personally, I think it is a very interesting job. I believe this because I have access to many different and interesting students through the job. They are vibrant(有活力的)and clever. Therefore, I find my job very exciting on some days.

  1. Do you miss being a student?

Sometimes I miss being a student because it was a very different sort of life. As a student, I had more freedom to explore what I found interesting and exciting. Nowadays, I must follow and explore what is good for the company in the work place and not only my own desires. Which means occasionally I must do things which I am not very interested in. At moments like this, I miss being a student.

  1. Do you like your job?

Yes, I really like my job. It is not only that I find the work inspiring and interesting, I also have a very good relationship with everyone I work with in the company. People in my company are very funny and kind. So, being surrounded by them makes it difficult to dislike my job.

(3) For those who majors in Natural Science (理工科身份)

  1. What work do you do?

I am a computer programmer in a technology company. My job is mainly related to creating the codes for software applications and operating systems, which convert (转变、转化)the design into a set of instructions (指示)computers can follow.

  1. Why did you choose to do that type of work?

I have a passion for computer-related knowledge. After doing research on the current and future job market, I found that Artificial Intelligence is the trend leading the world’s future. To me, being a computer programmer is a very challenging career which I decided to pursue in my life.

  1. Do you miss being a student?

I do not miss being a student. I was not a bookworm (书呆子),and a lot of subjects seemed boring to me. What’s more, the workload (工作量)of the study was too much for me. This made me hardly sleep during the night.

  1. Is it interesting? / Do you like your job?

It is very interesting. I love my job as a computer programmer because I am really keen on (喜爱)the computer related field and have the passion for continuing the study of software coding technology. Not to mention, this is a well-paid job that can possibly offer an over-the-top salary (高薪).
